Hello and welcome to another episode of the Martin Rehab M&A Advisory. Today I would like to introduce you to a powerful tool that we call the growth potential assessment. If you're a physical therapy business owner with a growing practice, you probably know ambition alone is not enough in order to expand successfully. And that's where our growth potential assessment or I will call it moving forward our GPA can really help you. Think of the GPTA. Think of the GPA as your first step towards unlocking your clinic's full growth potential.

It's a strategic service designed specifically for owners like you. And that is owners with single clinics who want to go to multiple clinics and business owners with multiple clinics who want to continue to grow in their market and outside their market. So, in this video, we're going to walk through how the GPA assesses your readiness to grow and helps you to build a customized action plan. And that's all under the guidance of Martin Healthcare Advisors, seasoned experts who understand the rehab business inside and out. So, let's dive in and see how the GPA really sets you up for success.

Today's market for independent rehabilitation practices is more competitive than it has ever been. Larger companies and well-funded groups are expanding rapidly in competition for patients, talent, and referrals is intense. For an independent owner, standing still isn't an option in this market. To compete and thrive, growth is essential. That could mean opening new clinics. It could mean acquiring a smaller practice or simply improving the performance of your existing locations, but growth can bring big questions. Are you and your business truly prepared to grow? Do you have the right systems in place?

Do you have the right people, the right resources in place? And if you're ready, what's your next move going to be? These are tough questions, but having them answered is crucial and critical because in this market, if you're not moving forward, you are and you risk falling behind. So, the good news is you don't have to figure it all out on your own. And that's exactly why we created the growth potential assessment. So, what exactly is the growth potential assessment? Well, in simple terms, it's a comprehensive evaluation of your practices or your business readiness to grow.

Our team will dive into your business data and operations to see how you're operating today and how you stack up against similar successful businesses. We're going to benchmark your performance against industry peers. We're going to look at very key metrics like financial health, operational efficiency, patient volumes, coding, and more. And through this process, the GPA will identify your strengths, and it's going to look for gaps or weaknesses that could affect your ability to grow in the future. And more importantly, it translates all that insight into a clear, customized, and what I call roadmap for your expansion.

In other words, the growth potential assessment, the GPA, doesn't just tell you if you're ready to grow. It shows you what you need to do in order to grow with concrete strategies and steps tailored to your business. It's like getting a growth report card and a strategic plan. All in one and it's designed to give you confidence and direction for your future. So, one of the most valuable aspects of the GPA is that it answers the questions every growthminded rehabilitation business owner probably has in this market today.

First question could be, how does my company compare to others? We've all wondered where we stand. Well, the GPA is going to show how your clinic's performance relative to industry benchmarks and how your performance is comparing to top competitors. So, you know if you're ahead or you're playing catch-up in certain areas. Another question, is my company ready for growth? Well, it's going to tackle the processes, the financial stability that will support expansion. Next question. What is the impact of market competition on my business? The GPA examines your local market and the competitive landscape around you and that helps you to understand external factors.

Are there untapped opportunities in and around your market? What threats or challenges from competitors should you plan for? And finally, this is the big question. What are next best steps should be in order to begin this expansion. So after all the analysis, the GPA will outline your next be best growth moves. And whether that's optimizing your current operations, opening a new clinic, improving your coding and billing processes, bolstering your team, or maybe pursuing a strategic acquisition. By answering these key questions, the GPA now will give you clarity on where you stand and confidence on deciding where to go next.

So, let's talk about the GPA process. And how it actually works. It culminates after we gather data in a planning session. And again, that doesn't happen first. First, our team is going to gather and analyze information about your business, financial reports, operational metrics, market data, and we essentially do our homework so that we can come to the table with a presentation and with some real insights. Next, we're going to do a threehour planning session where you and your leadership team, your growth, your ownership team will meet with Martin Healthcare Advisors experts.

And we do that either in person or virtually via a zoom. And during this session, we're going to present our findings. I'll give you an example. How your clinic's performance compares to industry benchmarks. What we learned about your local market and where your biggest opportunities and challenges will lie in the future. This is not a one-way discussion. It's a collaborative discussion focused on your unique situation. And we really encourage you to ask questions, share your perspective, brainstorm with us because together we're going to explore multiple growth scenarios and options.

So by the end of the session, you won't just have a bunch of data. You'll have a shared understanding with our experts of what it all means for your business and a set of strategic options for you to consider. It's really engaging. It's eyeopening process that many clients have said it's unlike any meeting they've ever had before. And that's why I'm here today because this kind of a session is so valuable for you to get centered in where you're heading next. So again, during the planning session, we're going to cover a range of critical topics to shape your growth strategy.

We're going to clarify your goals, both your personal and your business goals. We want to know what you, as the owner, want out of your business. Are you looking to double in size in the next three to five years? Are you looking to expand potentially into new states or maybe just enough so that you can step back from day-to-day operations and your business somewhat runs itself? We align the growth plan with your personal vision and your business goals because growth should serve your objectives, not the other way around.

We start that planning session with getting a full understanding of your goals. Next, we're going to map out your market. So, this means we're going to look at your geographic area and the competitive landscape around you. Who are the other key players in your market? By creating a market map, we can visually see where opportunities for exa expansion exist and where there could be some more challenges. Then we're going to dive into discussing strategic growth options. Again, we're going to brainstorm with you and evaluate different paths.

It could be simply internal growth strategies for a period of time like increasing patient volume through marketing, improving your coding or your scheduling processes to boost your current revenue. Or external strategies like opening a new clinic location, expanding it into a new service line, or even potentially acquiring another smaller practice. We're going to talk through the pros and cons of all of these options within the context of your business. And as we're doing this, we are building what we call a growth inventory. This is so helpful for you moving forward.

Think of this as a list of all of your viable growth opportunities along with an assessment of their potential impact. Remember impact and recommendations. So, we're going to make recommendations. Then, we're going to map out for you the impact of executing on those recommendations. So, and on each of those opportunities, we're going to consider questions like, you know, how will this contribute to your revenue or profit? What resources will it require? How does it fit with your overall goals in your current market? And by the end, you'll have a curated inventory of growth moves, big moves and small moves, and an understanding of the impact each could have on your company's future growth.

This, you know, thorough exploration ensures that your eventual growth plan is grounded in reality and aligned with what's best for you and your business. So after completing the GPA, what do you walk away with? What what what's your walk away information? Well, the first is outcome is clarity. You're going to have a cl crystalclear highdefinition picture of where your business stands, what you're doing well, what needs improvement in the context of growth. And perhaps you're also going to discover that your patient satisfaction is excellent, but your clinic's profitability margins are a bit low based on industry benchmarks.

But knowing this and be able being able to apply strategies towards this is powerful. And it will show you where you need to strengthen your foundation before you make a decision to expand. Secondly, you're going to get a customized growth plan. This isn't a generic report. It's a very actionable strategy document tailored to your business. It's going to outline very specific steps and initiatives that make most sense for you. So whether it's hiring some new therapists or increasing capacity at your top clinic level or investing in a market campaign to drive referrals or improving your coding or your billing process to free up cash for expansion, potentially scouting and doing an analysis for your next facility, you'll know exactly what you need to do first after we go through this assessment.

You know, another really important outcome that we have seen from this is alignment. If you have partners who are on your leadership and ownership team, the GPA gets everyone on the same page because you've gone through the analysis and the planning together with Martin Healthcare Advisors. So, your team gains a shared understanding of your goals and the path on how you're going to achieve them. There's nothing like seeing the data and the strategy laid out clearly to unite everyone towards this growth vision. Finally, perhaps the most important outcome of this session is confidence.

By the end of the growth potential assessment, you can feel confident and excited about moving forward. I remember after our session, this is many years ago, seeing it all laid out, the financial, how we were going to grow financially, how many clinics we were going to grow to, where we were going to grow internally, what each person would be responsible for. It was just a feeling of a commitment. I now have a commitment. So you'll have expert back strategies in hand and the insurance that comes from knowing that there's an industry veterans that have vetted all the things in your plan.

Growth always involves some risk, some uncertainty, but with the insight and the strategy from this growth potential assessment, you're going to be tackling growth with your eyes wide open and with a solid plan in place. You know, one of the advantages of working with Martin Healthcare Advisors is that our support does not end with the assessment. The GPA, the GPA is often just the beginning of an opportunity to work together. And although the GPA does have a start and a stop, once you have your growth plans, you might be thinking, okay, this looks great on paper, but how do we actually execute?

Martin Healthcare Advisors can remain by your side to help you execute. I'll give you an example. If your plan involves trying to recruit some new clinicians or leaders to support your expansion, our team can assist you with how you would do that talent acquisition strategy and so that you're able to attract and hire the right people. If improving financial performance or opt optimizing your coding processes is a priority, we have experts who can guide you in revamping those systems that will give you significantly improved cash flow.

Maybe you're planning to open a new clinic or acquire another practice. We'll provide guidance through every step of that expansion from analyzing the opportunity to the divid diligence to integration and after the deal and in short whatever growth initiatives your GPA plan includes we offer ongoing consulting services operations finance marketing development all to ensure that you succeed and actually carry out this plan. And I can tell you that we in each one of those areas, we can show a return on investment that you will get.

If we can't get you triple return on investment for what we're going to be doing, we would not be offering to work with you post this GPA. We become a long-term partner in your growth journey, and that's helping you to transform that strategic plan into reality. Many of our GPA clients choose to continue working with us in this way, leveraging our expertise. And our goal is not just to hand you a plan and then wish you luck, but to see you through to the final finish line and beyond making sure that your growth is sustainable and that your business thrives.

You might also have heard of another Martin Healthcare advisor's service called the outside in assessment and you're probably wondering how it differs from the growth potential assessment and that's really important to understand the distinction so that you choose the right path for your goals. The growth potential assessment is all about planning for growth and expansion. It's the right choice for owners who want to scale their business, potentially open new locations, improve performance, and continue leading their company's growth for years to come. On the other side, the outside in assessment is more about succession planning or preparing for a potential partner or sale of your business.

It takes an external perspective, essentially looking at your business the way a prospective acquirer or investor would look at your business. The OIA answers questions like, "What is my company's value in today's market? And how can I maximize my business's value if I plan to exit?" In contrast, the GPA is less about valuation and succession plan and more about strategy for future growth. Within that GPA growth potential assessment, we are going to do a value, but it's for purposes of you have a value today and where will you be once we achieve all the growth that we're talking about.

So to sum it all up, if your goal is to grow your company, bring in more revenue, open new clinics, and keep building for the future, the growth potential assessment is the essential first step to make sure you're ready and you're heading in the right direction. But if you're starting to think in the next year or two that you're thinking about stepping away, selling, partnering with a larger company, or in some way, as we call it, passing the torch in the next few years, our outside in assessment might be a better fit to help you plan that transition.

Both assessments provide valuable clarity, but they cater to different end goals. Growth in the GPA versus an exit in the OIA. And of course, Martin Healthcare Advisors can help you on either journey. In this video, our focus is on growth. So, assuming you're expanding and you're wanting to go into expansion mode, the growth potential assessment is the tool you're going to want to be leveraging. So, my question to you is, are you ready to grow? You know, you think of, are you ready to rumble like the WWE, but are you ready to grow?

Remember, in today's competitive environment, growth will not wait for you. The best opportunities will pass you by if you're not prepared to seize them. And that's why assessing your growth readiness now is critical. Martin Healthcare Advisor's growth potential assessment will absolutely give you the roadmap as well as the confidence you need to move forward. So instead of growing through trial and error, you can grow strategically with a plan. And this plan, you can also grow with a trusted partner by your side. With that growth potential assessment, you will literally take control of your business's future rather than letting the market dictate your fate.

So, we invite you to reach out to Martin Healthcare Advisors and discuss a growth potential assessment. In order to do this, follow the instructions on our last slide or click below and let's talk.
