Hello, Paul Martin here and I am the founder and president of Martin Healthcare Advisors and welcome to another episode of Paul Martin's crucial conversations. This series is built for you. That's rehab business owners who are trying to make sense of where the merger and acquisition market is really heading. And we are in a time of uncertainty politically, economically, and inside our own industry. And owners across the country are asking themselves, "What do I do next?" Today, I'm going to introduce a new series that we have titled Clarity Amid the Chaos.
And what rehab owners need to know. Now, and in this introduction, what I'm going to do is kind of lay out the forces that are shaping today's market and many of the questions that sellers are wrestling with and why I'm turning to the top acquirer CEOs and executives in the country to help bring some level of clarity to this chaos. You know, you all have to agree with this. We are in one of the most unsettled periods I've seen in outpatient rehab. Political leadership has shifted again.
Rate policy is unpredictable. The cost of delivering care continues to rise. And we hear every day tariffs causing a lot of unpredictability. Margins are under pressure both from reimbursement cuts, wage inflation, and the potential for tax changes in 2026 has a lot of owners watching that calendar. So, after decades of working with practice owners, I can tell you this, we've been through cycles before, but this one feels different. It feels unique. And that's why we're launching this series to try to get some clarity from the people who are closest to where it's all happening.
So again, even with uncertainty, we're seeing multiples holding pretty strong. And there's still plenty of capital and plenty of buyers in this market. But here is a fact. Acquirers are being more selective. They're tightening criteria. They're adapting strategy. And they are looking more closely at risk. Well, this series is going to bring conversations with the CEOs and top M&A executives of the most active acquirers in the outpatient rehabilitation market, both privately held companies as well as private equityback companies. These are the folks that are on the front lines.
They're looking at deals every week. They're shaping and reshaping their strategy in real time and deciding what to acquire, what to pass on, and we're going to ask them why. So you'll hear direct answers. We're going to press them to discuss how they are seeing this current market and they are leading how they are leading this market. So, if you're thinking about selling or partnering with a larger company in the next one, three, or even five years, or you're just looking to make great decisions in the face of all the noise and shifting dynamics, you're definitely not alone, and you should tune in to this series that is coming very soon.
Each episode is going to be short and focused. It's going to be about 20 minutes long. We're going to talk to one CEO or a executive who is involved in mergers and acquisitions at a time. These are not rehearsed. They're not sanitized. These are very candid, practical discussions about what's happening in deals right now and what sellers need to know to make informed decisions. So, you're going to walk away with a better understanding of what acquirers are thinking, what they're looking for, and how to prepare your business.
